The plot of the animated series tells of a war over the territory of two factions of living robots from the planet Cybertron—the Autobots and the Decepticons. During the war, the natural resources of their home planet Cybertron are exhausted. To survive, members of both factions have to roam through space in search of new resources. Arriving on Earth, Optimus Prime's and Megatron's forces continue their struggle in 1984, hiding from humans under the camouflage of Earth's dominant form—the machine technology. However, soon their war ceases to be a secret.
