In a small picturesque town in Northern India lives Lakshman with his younger brother Bharat. Lakshman is an eccentric simpleton with a unique view of the world, which often draws the derision of the town's not-so-bright inhabitants. Bharat desperately protects and guards his brother, and their bond grows ever deeper. Lakshman's world, the world of the eccentric, collapses when tensions on the India-China border reach a breaking point, and Bharat goes to enlist in the army.
