The story unfolds after the events of the animated film Kung Fu Panda 3, in which four panda cubs (Nyu Hai, Jin, Bao, and Fan Tong) end up in a mystical cave beneath the panda village. The panda cubs accidentally absorb the Qi of the ancient and powerful kung fu warriors known as the Four Celestials: Blue Dragon, Black Turtle, White Tiger, and Red Phoenix. They realize that they are destined to save the world from an evil force by placing Po on the path to his greatest task: training this motley group of cubs in how to use their newly acquired kung fu abilities.
