An immortal being capable of taking on various forms—from stone, through living beings, to humans—finds itself in the tundra one day, where after several transformations it finds the wolf's carcass. In this guise, the creature meets a lonely boy and sets off with him on a journey. Along the way, the immortal must learn how the world of humans is built and what life and death are.
