There lived in a fairy-tale realm a large green giant named Shrek. He lived in proud solitude in his swamp, which he considered his. But one day the evil little lord Farquaad, ruler of a magical kingdom, mercilessly drove all the fairy-tale inhabitants from Shrek's swamp. And the carefree life of the green giant came to an end. Lord Farquaad promised to return the swamp to Shrek if the giant would rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona, who is imprisoned in a dragon-guarded tower.
