On the eve of her 40th birthday, the Los Angeles gallery owner Solen takes her 16-year-old daughter Izzy to the Coachella festival. Her ex-husband bought tickets for his daughter and her friends to a fan meet-and-greet with the showbiz band August Moon, whom they had known since seventh grade. Solen accidentally meets one of the band's members, a 24-year-old Englishman named Hayes, and soon he appears at the doorstep of her gallery, surrounded by bodyguards and paparazzi.
