Doctor Strange, with Wong's help, saves a teenage girl named America Chavez from a giant octopus. America Chavez, who can open portals to parallel universes in a fit of fear, becomes the target of an evil force eager to obtain her ability. Trying to protect this new ally from that force, Doctor Strange and America Chavez set off on a journey through the multiverse.
