Summer of 1941. Lieutenant Adisharipov and his platoon cover the withdrawal of the regimental headquarters and remain encircled in the enemy's rear. The enemy drives the detachment into the swamp. Fear of the unknown, despair, and doubt haunt the soldiers until they realize that waiting and inaction will destroy them faster than enemy bullets.
