Batman raises the stakes in the war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and Prosecutor Harvey Dent, he intends to cleanse the streets of Gotham of crime. The partnership proves effective, but soon they find themselves in the midst of the chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to frightened citizens as the Joker.
