The year 1962. Soldier Leroy Hanlon, together with his wife Charlotte and their son Will Hanlon, moves to the small town of Derry in the state of Maine. Leroy arrives at a nearby military base to take part in a secret mission, but his new colleagues greet him with coldness. When children in town begin to die, a group of schoolchildren, into which Will Hanlon has joined, investigates a chain of deaths.
