Persia, 11th century. In the north of the country, Hassan ibn Sabbah unites under his leadership the most devoted followers of Isma'ilism. The members of the new religious-military formation fear death and strike terror into their enemies. They are feared by sultans and governors. Soon the loyal followers of Hassan ibn Sabbah begin planning the murders of several influential individuals. Later they will be called the Assassins.
