In the series, the narrative follows the fate of two provincial women — Demet, the mother, and her daughter Zeynep. They live in a small town called Gelyazy, which resembles more of a village. They own a small shop that hardly yields any income compared to the physical and material costs of running it. This wretched coexistence will one day come to an end after an offer from the mother's longtime friend Jale. Jale works as a professor at a prestigious university in Istanbul. She offers Demet and Zeynep to move in with her. The mother, hoping to give her daughter a good education, takes this step, and they move to Istanbul.
