After India gained independence, the streets of Bombay were plagued by crime. Honest policeman Ismail Kadri, along with his subordinates, fights the gangsters. As Ismail becomes increasingly obsessed with bringing criminals to justice, his son begins to be drawn to a life of crime and adopts the same lifestyle that his father fought against throughout his career.
