In 1989, Christy Renee Solters, the daughter of a miner from a small town in West Virginia, discovers in herself a talent for boxing. Her manager and trainer became Jim Martin, her future husband. Christy achieves victories and becomes the embodiment of women's boxing, however in her personal life she faces violence and abuse at the hands of her husband.
