Maria is a young and naive peasant girl who arrives in the big city to find a job that would allow her to support herself and the family she left in the village. Soon the girl meets the wealthy Juan Carlos, and the couple falls in love. However, Juan Carlos’s family is adamantly against his relationship with a peasant, and he himself cannot stand up to his relatives and runs away when he learns that Maria is pregnant. With the help of her best friend Rita, Maria meets teacher Victor Careno, who falls in love with her, but Maria is distressed; her heart hardens, and she does not want to fall in love anymore to avoid suffering. Years pass. Maria becomes a renowned fashion designer; her son Jose Ignacio studies in the Faculty of Law. One day at university, Jose Ignacio meets the charming Laura, and the two fall in love. However, when Jose Ignacio learns that Laura is from the del Villar family, which had once rejected him and his mother, he leaves the girl. Meanwhile Laura learns that she is pregnant and runs away from home, as her mother Lorena intends to force her to have an abortion. Jose Ignacio finds his beloved, and they marry, but Lorena shoots the young man in front of her own daughter, which triggers premature labor in the girl. Laura dies, and Jose Ignacio blames little Mariita for his wife’s death. Dear users!
