The year is 1932. After many years of absence, the Smok and Stack twins return to their hometown in the Mississippi Delta. They fought in the trenches of World War I, and afterward became gangsters in Chicago. The brothers purchase a tract of land with farm buildings from a white supremacist, to open a music bar there for plantation workers. The highlight of the opening is the pastor's son, to whom the twins once gave a guitar, and he plays blues so well that it draws the attention of an Irish vampire who happens to be nearby.
