Two friends, Sherkhan and Kazanbas, arrived in Almaty and are involved in petty crime. They live day to day and burn through money in a bar. One evening they meet some girls who invite them to their place. But this turns out to be a trap, as two burly men wait for them and forcibly take them away to a distant, lonely house. To their horror, the friends have no idea where in the country they are. From that day for three weeks they must be making pelmeni to sell. The head of the enterprise, Make, ruthlessly muzzles anyone who dares to oppose him. Sherkhan and Kazanbas make a couple of escape attempts, but all of them end in failure, and after each escape the length of their stay is extended. Sherkhan does not give up on freedom, but Kazanbas, with his advice on boosting pelmeni sales, wins Make's favor and wants to stay. Now the friends must not only find a way to freedom but also resolve the conflict between themselves.
