On Isla Nublar, where a dinosaur-themed amusement park had not long ago operated, wild nature rules, but a suddenly awakened volcano threatens to wipe the dinosaurs off the face of the Earth. The former park manager Claire Dearing has become an advocate for endangered species and is doing everything she can to save the prehistoric animals. Ilay Mills, the trusted associate of billionaire Benjamin Lockwood, who many years ago was an ally of Professor Hammond, approaches Claire. Mills offers Claire, who is familiar with the park's security system, to go to the island and help him capture several specimens to relocate them to another safe island. Claire even manages to persuade her ex-boyfriend, the trainer Owen, to take part in the rescue mission, but upon arriving at the park it becomes clear that Mills has entirely different goals.
