A middle-aged man named Rayburn, with a troubled past, works as the warden of a nature reserve and drinks heavily. Suddenly the local authorities discover the body of a teenage girl. The sheriff determines that the victim was hunted, using a primitive throwing device—the atlatl. Five years ago, Rayburn's minor daughter disappeared, so when, on forest surveillance footage, he sees an unknown man in camouflage chasing a girl, he does not hesitate to rush to her aid.
