Corporal Joe Bauers is chosen by the Pentagon to participate in a top-secret program of human hibernation. After spending five hundred years in hibernation, he awakens and finds himself in a civilization where the intellectual level of the people is far below his own. In the end, Joe turns out to be the smartest man on the planet.
