Year 1825. A Burmese woman who has lost a child at the hands of British soldiers is transformed into a vengeful Black Spirit, and a powerful monk immediately imprisons her in a stone coffin. Years later, during the war, a village elder frees the spirit to take revenge on the invaders, but it soon gets out of control and begins to attack young women. Year 1976. Yi, Yak's younger sister, disappears without a trace after school. The rites reveal to the family that the very Black Spirit dragged the girl into the cursed Bongsanodbiang forest. To save her, Yak, together with his companions, decides on a dangerous journey to that place, where no charms are effective, and only the ringing of silver bells warns of the advancing danger.
