Hollywood, 1978. An aspiring actress named Sheryl unsuccessfully attends auditions. Desperate, she yields to an agent's persuasion and, in order to get on television, decides to take part in a dating show where the woman must blindly choose among three suitors. One of the bachelors is Rodney Alcala, a maniac who has been raping and killing with impunity for several years.
