Choi I-je grew up in a poor family and did not have a good start in life, so, after failing a job interview at a prestigious firm, he spent seven years eking out a living with part-time jobs. When he again fails to pass the interview, despair overtakes him, and, leaving a suicide note, not fearing death, he jumps from the roof. He thought that his torment would end there, but that wasn't the case. Choi I-je finds himself at the gates of hell, where death itself awaits him, and learns that now, as punishment, he will die twelve times in twelve different bodies. If he does not want to end up in hell, he must try to survive.
