4400 people who had been missing at various times in the 20th century suddenly return to Earth, remaining exactly as they were on the day of their disappearance. Concerned authorities begin an investigation to determine where these people had been and why they were brought back. It soon becomes clear that their appearance could change the world in the most unpredictable way.
