The 17th century. After the Turks were defeated in the Battle of Vienna, the captured Janissary Hasan Balaban was sentenced to death, but he managed to escape. Balaban ends up in the village of Moena, located in the Italian Alps. Here he meets a girl named Gloria, who offers him blood and helps him recover after the severe injury he sustained during his escape. Gradually romantic feelings develop between them, destined to grow into something more. Meanwhile, the peasants suffer under the oppression of their feudal lord, who sends his army to the village to purge it of witches and to find the escaped Turk. Balaban saves Gloria from being burned and becomes the village's protector. The situation escalates when one of his old enemies, the merciless knight Marko, whom he once considered his brother, appears.
