Clueless, but cheerful and good-natured actor Joe Tribbiani arrives in Los Angeles, where he is promised a new job. Settling into an apartment his sister has rented for him, Joe kicks off a whirlwind of activities: he flirts with his married neighbor Alex, teaches his nephew Michael the tricks of meeting girls, tries his hand at theatrical productions, and takes on a whole bunch of other things. And thanks to his devil-may-care attitude, Joe constantly finds himself in tangled and sometimes funny situations.
