Set in the early 1990s in Boston, mired in crime, corruption, and racism. One day a new Black district attorney from Brooklyn, Dekorsi Ward, arrives in the city and is determined, by any means necessary, to upend the existing order. The protagonist is forced to form a dubious alliance with a corrupt but respected FBI veteran, Jackie Rorom. Ward hopes that, with his help, he can track down a dangerous armored-car robbery gang. Soon their collaboration permanently changes the criminal justice system in Boston.
