Former police officer Jim gradually returns to normal life, battling alcoholism: in his alcohol-fueled despair he drowns his grief over his wife's death. He is forced to return to one of his past investigations after the murder of a wealthy woman. Jim needs to pull himself together, repair his relationship with his daughter, and become the formidable detective he once was again.
