The television series New Tricks tells about the work of the OVNP/UCOS unit (Unsolved Crime and Open Case Squad – Otryad po rassledovaniyu Vnovotkrytykh Neraskrytykh Prestupleniy). The squad is led by Detective Superintendent Sara Pullman, and the unit itself consists of retired police officers who have been re-enlisted to conduct investigations of unsolved cases. The title of the series comes from the well-known proverb "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." "Old Dogs" successfully adapt their knowledge and experience to modern conditions and solve crimes that had remained unsolved for many years.
