An alternate reality corresponding to the early 20th century. In the hands of a girl named Sita lies the Flying Stone. Government agents and pirates hunt her because the Stone represents enormous value. Trying to escape from the pursuers, Sita meets Padzu, her peer who works in a mining town. Together, the children discover that the Stone is the key to the mysterious flying island Laputa.
