The sisters Satsuki and Mei move with their dad to a wooden house in the countryside. One day the girls discover that nearby live forest spirits, guardians of the forest, led by their powerful and benevolent lord Totoro. Gradually Totoro becomes a friend to the girls, helping them in their everyday adventures.
