Fourteen-year-old Shizuku lives in Tokyo, spends all her free time reading, and sometimes writes poetry. One day she notices that in the library all the books have been borrowed by a certain Seiji. It turns out he is a boy from a parallel class, and at first he does not like Shizuku at all. Gradually they grow closer, and Seiji's dream of becoming a violin maker awakens in the girl a desire to find her own dream as well. He begins to write a story about the Baron, a cat statue from an antique shop.
