For a thousand years now—once in the life of every generation—a war has been waged between the warriors of Earthrealm and the forces of Outworld. Each battle takes place on an island between the two realms, but it is not armies that participate; only warriors, fighting one-on-one in a secret tournament. But since the number of warriors is very small, the stakes are incredibly high: the fate of Earthrealm depends on the outcome of the tournament.
