The end of the 15th century, Eastern Europe. Prince Vlad II lives only for the love of his wife, Princess Elizaveta. When duty calls him to the battlefield to hold back the Turkish invasion, he prays to God for one thing—to spare his wife’s life during the war. But Elizaveta dies, and a wrathful Vlad renounces God. Four hundred years later. A priest of a special order examines a vampire who has ended up in a psychiatric hospital, and meanwhile a lawyer from Paris arrives at Prince Vlad's castle, where Vlad begins to recount his sad love story to him.
