Mara raises her beloved daughter alone, and her ex-husband Karim from time to time takes the little girl for weekends. One day the daughter disappears, and Mara learns that Karim secretly took her to his homeland in Syria. For many years, Mara has been knocking on doors, but she cannot retrieve her daughter through official channels. One day the former Marine Mitch approaches Mara, offering her a deal: she must help recover kidnapped children through covert operations around the world. In response to this, he promises to do everything to bring her daughter home.
