Charlie Spring, an awkward, curly-haired high school student, feels like an outcast at school. After his recent coming-out, classmates taunt him for reasons both with and without cause. One sunny day Charlie meets Nick Nilson, a handsome athlete with a kind heart and a scatter of freckles on his face, and, of course, he instantly falls in love with him. But Charlie doesn’t know how to tell Nick about his feelings without ruining their warm, heartfelt friendship. The situation worsens by the fact that Nick seems to like girls.
