In one of the districts of New York City, overseen by a police precinct led by Lieutenant Voznyak, crime is nearly eradicated, but not by the most legitimate method — the police have simply taken over the entire criminal enterprise for themselves. The 'cover' protects drug dealers, fences, and other lawbreakers for a small cut. Detective Harley Santos is a single mother who can't make ends meet on her honest salary to send her daughter to a prestigious school, so she, along with other cops, is involved in the boss's shady deals. During another sweep of the territory to collect protection money, Santos falls into the trap set by the FBI's Special Task Force; in exchange for restoring her reputation and her freedom, Harley is offered to become a 'mole' in her own precinct. The detective faces a difficult choice: on one hand, the chance to be near her daughter, and on the other, the betrayal of those she had called 'family' this morning...
