The future of Edmond Dantès looks bright: he has just become captain of a ship and is preparing to marry the love of his life, the beautiful Mercedes. However, he does not suspect that he has enemies who, out of envy, are planning to stage a conspiracy against him. Edmond is unjustly accused of Bonapartism and is sent to the Chateau d'If prison without trial or investigation.
