The Walker family is an ordinary American family living in Los Angeles. They are eternal rivals, yet they are very close. The Walker siblings try to live up to their parents' expectations and to meet them. Their father, William Walker, is the president of the family business, and he seems to them a role model. Their mother, Nora Holden, is a determined and strong woman. The eldest daughter, Sarah, is the vice president of the corporation, who has returned to the family business and is balancing family life with her career. Tommy is a ladies' man and the heir to the family business. Kevin is a lawyer with a nontraditional orientation. Justin, the younger son, is struggling with moral injury after the war. And, finally, Kitty, a recently engaged girl with right-wing views, accustomed to being daddy's darling. All of them must learn to accept their seemingly saintly parents as real people with all their flaws and contradictions.
