The series is set in 790 CE in the fictional Norwegian settlement Nurheim, where, after yet another raid, the Viking warband returns to their wives and children. Amid the familiar fjords, they are not only greeted by feasts and toasts, but also by domestic concerns, family squabbles, and looming political problems.
