For unknown reasons, almost all Y-chromosome carriers on the planet are dying, except for Yorik and his hand-raised male capuchin. Society descends into chaos, and the surviving women strive to adapt to life in the new world. Yorik, meanwhile, heads to the Mother-Senator in Washington, and then intends to locate his girlfriend Bat, who was in Australia at the moment the catastrophe began.
