It's 1982 in Los Angeles, a city saturated with temptations where drugs and rock-and-roll reign. The ceaseless revelry around becomes fertile ground for the emergence from the shadows of the cruel and cunning maniac Kent Grainger, who has instilled horror in all residents and inhabitants of the Sunset Strip. The killer finds victims in dens of vice, from which he lures them into his own car and drives off to a secluded empty lot. There he dispatches the girls and uses their lifeless bodies to satisfy his beastly desires, and afterward leaves them there, where the victims will be quickly discovered. The Sunset Strip killer has developed a unique signature: shortly before carrying out the attack on a victim he calls into the radio and asks for a song to be played for her, thus naming the next victim. The death toll rises. The Evil City sinks rapidly into the blood of the innocent, and several detectives join forces with journalists, regulars at local clubs, and street drug dealers to together find and neutralize the source of the terror. Meanwhile, Kent finds a new victim—a nurse and the mother of two children, Betty Beaumont. Everything is going according to plan, but at the crucial moment his heart trembles—the killer experiences an unexpected feeling of sympathy for the woman and lets her go.
