Three children of the Baudelaire family, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, are left orphans after a terrible fire and end up under the guardianship of Count Olaf, who with all his might wants to seize the children's inheritance. The children try in every possible way to explain to everyone around that Count Olaf is not just a bad guardian, but is also trying to kill them to get rich; of course, no one listens to the children. And only because of the adults' misunderstanding do the orphans fall into various misadventures.
