2007, Los Angeles. Harry Wickoff takes a job at a TV channel owned by Senator Kroitzer, who intends to introduce to every home in America and the rest of the world the astonishing technology of "Virtual Reality," transforming television broadcasts into three-dimensional holographic projections. Harry builds a successful career, enjoys the wealth and power he has gained, but finds himself drawn into bloody intrigues involving drugs that alter minds. Harry, to his horror, realizes that no one is who they seem to be, and he himself, and the people he loves, are merely pawns in a cruel, life-or-death rivalry that began even before his birth.
