Being a detective in the New York Homicide Department isn't easy, and Jane Timoni's job is even tougher - she has to earn the respect of her male colleagues. She is a rookie who has just been transferred to a department run by male chauvinism. Timoni isn't perfect either: she has a dark past, she is rough, and she disregards the rules. But above all, she is an excellent cop who always keeps her eye on the main thing - the main suspect.
