Former Marine and elite sniper Livay, who has lost the meaning of life, agrees to a top-secret year-long assignment: to spend a full year in total solitude in a watchtower on the edge of a vast canyon. On the other side, in a similar tower, sits a Lithuanian sniper named Drasa. Their joint task, formulated back in the dawn of the Cold War, is to ensure that monstrous 'hollow people' do not emerge from the fog. Although emissaries of the West and East are forbidden to communicate, soon Livay and Drasa establish contact and fall in love with each other.
