In the rehabilitation center in the aul Bastau, Talgat meets the practicum intern Aliya. He falls in love with her but cannot admit it, fearing her rejection. In Talgat's ward, two patients are relocated—Dastan with diabetes and Nartay with color blindness—with whom he quickly gets along. One day Aliya heads back to Almaty, unaware of Talgat's feelings. His friends support him and suggest going after her. They persuade the old guard Sharip to drive them to Almaty in his old car. It turns out that each of them has his own reason to go to Almaty.
