September 30, 1998. Claire Redfield returns to her native Raccoon City, from which she fled as a child. Back then, after losing her parents, she lived with her brother in a local orphanage sponsored by the city-forming Umbrella Corporation, but now the company has moved, and the town is in decline. Claire notices that the townspeople seem to be infected with something, while her brother, a police officer, looks healthy. Suddenly a siren sounds in the city, and residents are advised not to leave their homes. That night, everyone will have a hard time, especially Claire herself and the sizeable police force, including rookie officer Leon Kennedy.
